About This Quote

In college I went to a Catholic school where mass was held every morning before school. Mass was the only time of the day my father would allow me to be out of his sight. I sat in the back row, with my knees pulled under my chin. I couldn’t see anything that was happening, but I could hear it all.

The chanting, the prayers, the sound of the priest’s voice so close to my ears. It was really terrifying. It was like being at one of those haunted houses where you can’t see the person who is standing right behind you, ready to jump out and scare you.
